This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I intend to seize it with both hands.

"I am now looking forward to being a Manchester United player and I am fortunate that I already know so many of the players here.

"I want to thank Sir Alex for the faith he has shown in me and I give him my assurance that I will repay him with my goals and performances."
SuBozzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14467822145100883344noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2437925455115800385.post-15266034322191724132009-06-30T19:05:00.001-07:002009-06-30T19:14:56.778-07:00United signs Valencia
Manchester United have made their first signing of the summer after confirming a16m(approx) deal with Luis Antonio Valencia!! v United - PreviewUnited are likely to field a much-changed team at relegation-threatened Hull City as they prepare for the Champions League Final against Barcelona.

That is excellent news for the Tigers who go into the game just outside the relegation zone after securing a vital draw at Bolton Wanderers last weekend.

However, such is the strength in depth of the current United squad that any team Sir Alex Ferguson decides to field is certain to push Hull all the way.

City can take heart from their performance at the Reebok Stadium when they were unfortunate not to return to the east coast with all three points, but their record at the KC Stadium is awful - they have only won three of their 18 home games this term.

It is possible that Phil Brown's team could lose on Sunday and still avoid an immediate return to the Championship but it is bound to be a nervous afternoon for all concerned.

Long-term injury victim Jimmy Bullard (knee) once again misses out as do Ian Ashbee (cruciate knee ligaments) and Anthony Gardner (back), but Brown is hopeful that Bernard Mendy and Kamil Zayatte could feature.

Having secured a third successive Premier League title by drawing 0-0 with Arsenal at Old Trafford last weekend, United are likely to be in celebratory mood at the KC Stadium.

Recent history suggests they may not be at their best as, two years ago, they lost at home at West Ham United on the final day of the campaign after securing the title.

That allowed the Hammers to stay up while Sheffield United were condemned to the drop.

Ferguson is certain to rest most of his key players but will definitely be without injured quartet Rio Ferdinand (back), Ben Foster (thumb), Owen Hargreaves (knee) and Wes Brown (ankle).

The two teams produced an amazing game at Old Trafford earlier in the season when United held on to win 4-3 despite conceding two late goals.

Fixture: Hull City v Manchester United
<span style="color: rgb(255, 102, It is remarkable to have such a consistent motivation at that level - and deal with the stress and all the other ingredients.”

José Mourinho (Former Chelsea manager, now at Inter Milan):
“I call him boss because he is the manager’s boss. He’s the top manager in the country. Maybe when I become 60, the kids will call me the same.”

Rafael Benítez (Liverpool manager):
“Ferguson is killing referees.”

“When you talk about United you’re talking about a side spending big, big money on every player, every season. For me that is the main difference between the teams.”SuBozzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14467822145100883344noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2437925455115800385.post-50745803001411869492009-05-16T09:52:00.000-07:002009-05-16T09:55:44.051-07:00We're Champions again!!!!

Manchester United have retained their Premier League titlefor a third successive season after drawing 0-0 with Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The result also means United have already secured a treble of trophies in the 2008/09 campaign, following victories in the Carling Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

And finally, the draw at Old Trafford and United retaining the Premier League once again also has the added significance in that the Red Devils have now won 18 EPL titles, equalling the record set by fierce rivals Liverpool.

Saturday 16th May 2009 is yet another memorable day in the lives of all Manchester United fans across the world.

UNITED ARE CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND FOR THE THIRD YR IN A ROW!
11TH TITLE UNDER SAF!

HAYS OFF TO SAF AND RED DEVILS FOR ENTERTAINING US!!
UNITED WILL ACHIEVE QUADRUPLE IF THEY WIN UCL!!

SuBozzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14467822145100883344noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2437925455115800385.post-1382439367443789202009-05-14T21:50:00.000-07:002009-05-15T18:51:25.618-07:00United v Arsenal - Final Title Crunch - PreviewManchester United need to get at least a draw out of today’s game against Arsenal to win the Premiership for the third year in a row.
If Manchester United manage to get at least a point from their clash against Arsenal on Saturday, then United will be presented the trophy straight after the game.

Yet, the game against Arsenal will not be an easy one. The Gunners have flourished in the majority of their ‘big four’ clashes this season, including their 2-1 win last time these two teams met in the Premier League.

The gap between both sides is 18, and although Arsenal have very little to play for they will still be looking for pride. This is a side who have won 18 of the last 20 Premier League matches.

Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Arsenal will be keen to help second placed Liverpool. “They have had a bit of criticism recently and they will want to register their abilities on a day when everyone expects Manchester United to win the title,” he said.

Even if Manchester United fail to win this game, the title is still very likely to be heading to Old Trafford, as they still have go to relegation bound Hull City on the final day of the season.

Man Utd can now match Liverpool’s historic record of 18 titles, but Ferguson had admitted that he’d never get this far.

“I never even thought about moving level with Liverpool,” said Ferguson. “My first intention was to win one and break the stranglehold Liverpool had on the title. The big challenge was that first one.”

Fixture: Manchester United v Arsenal
Competition: Barclays Premier league
Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester

Date: 16.5.09

Time:12.45 UK 18.15 IST
Channel: ESPN India

SuBozzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14467822145100883344noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2437925455115800385.post-22197955335872199132009-05-13T21:48:00.001-07:002009-05-13T21:49:10.455-07:00Wigan 1-2 United
Carlos Tevez and Michael Carrick's goals helped Man United come from behind to beat Wigan 2-1 and move to within a point of the title.
The battling Latics stunned United when they took a first half lead through Hugo Rodallega at a rain-hit JJB Stadium. How could it be when Darren Fletcher ended it in disbelief at the red card for a tackle on Cesc Fabregas which will rule him out of the Italian job.

However, it was not far off, leaving United to await events at Stamford Bridge tomorrow with so many neutrals, if not a Chelsea side hell-bent on revenge, hoping Barcelona set up what would be a dream decider.

No amount of meticulous planning can legislate for bad luck.

It is the unknown factor that, in an instant, can screw any amount of hopes and dreams into the tightest ball and throw them out of the highest window, never to be seen again.

Kieran Gibbs has not been a first-team regular very long. Fitness permitting, he has almost a decade and a half in front of him in the Arsenal side.

It is a fair bet, at the end of his career, the 18-year-old still regards the horror that unfolded eight minutes into what was such an eagerly-awaited contest as the worst moment he had to endure.

In his head, Gibbs was about to control Ronaldo's cutback, then decide whether to play a short pass out of defence or present Manuel Almunia with a routine clearance. Fate had other plans.

Instead, poor Gibbs lost his footing and hit the ground with a thump. Like lightning, Park seized on the loose ball, delicately lifting it over Almunia, whose arrival came just too late.

The United contingent went delirious. Fans, coaches, manager, players, Beckham alike all knew what it meant. They knew the prospect of Arsenal getting three to go through was so remote to be beyond comprehension.

SuBozzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14467822145100883344noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2437925455115800385.post-10201881876184157622009-05-02T09:08:00.000-07:002009-05-02T09:09:05.649-07:00Middlesbrough 0-2 United
United moved six points clear at the top of the table after a comfortable win against relegation-threatened Middlesbrough.
Both sides started brightly but were restricted to long-range efforts in the opening stages, Wayne Rooney having three strikes which didn't trouble Brad Jones.

The deadlock was broken in the 25th minute when Ryan Giggs found himself in space at the edge of the area from a corner and drove the ball into the bottom right-hand corner.

United then sat back but Boro were unable to create anything clear-cut in front of goal, and had penalty appeals waved away when Vidic appeared to handle the ball in the area.

United were immediately on the front foot after the break and it was 2-0 five minutes after the interval, Rooney picking out Ji-Sung Park who fired the ball past Jones into the bottom corner.

Boro brought on Afonso Alves and Didier Digard but were unable to fashion anything close to a chance and never seriously tested Ben Foster in the United goal.SuBozzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14467822145100883344noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2437925455115800385.post-53018097088282765872009-04-29T18:29:00.000-07:002009-04-29T18:30:23.424-07:00United 1-0 ArsenalManchester United are a step closer to a spot in the UEFA Champions League final, for the second consecutive time, following a 1-0 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford. The Gunners have no reason to complain, having conceded only one goal.

United dominated from the start and it did not take long for the first opportunities to arise in front of Manuel Almunia's goal. However, the Spanish keeper was in top shape and blocked several powerful efforts.

But the home side did take the lead on 17 minutes. Michael Carrick sent in a low pass from the left and John O'Shea fired it in the roof of the goal. Almunia did get his hands to it but couldn't sufficiently deflect the shot.

Cristiano Ronaldo almost got a second on 69 minutes but the Portuguese forward hit the crossbar from about 25 meters.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men, with freshly crowned Players' Player of the Year Ryan Giggs starting on the bench, were dominant in all ways and if they have any reason to criticize their performance, it would be based on the fact that more goals should have been scored in this game.

The second leg will be played at London's Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, May 5th.SuBozzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14467822145100883344noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2437925455115800385.post-45202164683289014852009-04-27T18:14:00.000-07:002009-04-27T18:18:30.632-07:00United v Arsenal - UCL SF - PreviewIt is a match that millions of people are waiting for not only in England but also in the whole world. I know from my previous experience that tomorrow, millions of people in Asia, Africa, Australia and even in USA will keep their eyes on this match of Manchester United vs Arsenal UEFA Champions League Semifinal. It is the first leg and it will take place in the stadium of Man U. So, they are home team and hot favorite to win the first leg. However, you cannot count out the Gunners at all because we have seen some fighting sprit and resurgence of form in London in the last few weeks.
First, I want to talk about Alex Ferguson’s team because they are home team. On Saturday, they played against Tottenham in an EPL clash and in half time, Tottenham took 2-0 lead. Then in second half, Ronaldo and his teammates scored 5 superb goals to win the match by 5-2. Can you believe it?

Competition: Uefa Champions League 2008-09 Semi-final (first leg)

Fixture: Manchester United vs Arsenal

Date: 29 April 2009 (Wednesday)

Kick Off time: 1945 UK 0015IST(Thurs)

Stadium: Old Trafford

Channel: TEN SPORTS

Yes, it is difficult to believe unless you watched the match. This is the thing that has amazed everyone and it happened more than once this season. Alex Ferguson is happy to see that his club is in the top of the football world at this moment. They have already won the carling cup. They are in course to win the title of English Premier League and UEFA Champions League is also just 3 matches away.

Well, after saying so many good words about Man Utd, it is difficult to say similar thing about Arsenal this season. They are already of hope of every title in this season except the Champions League. This is the only thing to play for the Gunners at this moment. The next best thing that they can hope for is perhaps 3rd position in EPL which most probably would not happen. So, tomorrow nigh can be a decisive night for them.

Arsene Wenger is also in happy and confident mood after seeing his team performed in an excellent manner in the last two matches. They drew with Liverpool in Liverpool last week by 4-4 and although Liverpool played well Arsenal never gave up. Then yesterday, they totally dominated against Middlesbrough and it was the match of Cese Fabregas. Fabregas is back on top form and he scored both the two goals of the match.

The good thing for Man Utd is that there is no major injury at this moment. Gary Neville will not be there but I believe that they have enough quality players in the defense. For Ryan Giggs, it will be an special match. If he plays then it will be his 800th appearance for Ryan Giggs for Manchester United. They will go in the match with some impressive records in their mind. They have not lost any match in Champions League in the last 23 matches. Secondly, they are unbeaten at Old Trafford for 20 matches in CL. This is a record to be proud of. It will be Cristiano Ronaldo who have something to cheer about because it will be his 5oth Champions League match. So, naturally, he will want to make it memorable by scoring a goal or two. Rooney is in good form too. Tevez and Berbetov are doing well. So, there is less worry for United in tomorrow’s match. They will entertain Arsenal with full confidence. The fans at Old Trafford from the first minute will start discussing what will be the score line 2-0, 3-0 or 4-0.

Arsenal has some stats to remember too. They have never lost in any match whenever they played in the semifinal level in any competition in Europe. It means that each time they played in the semifinal, they reached to the final in Europe. This is something to cheer about surely. This should give some confidence to all the players.

Injury is a big problem for Arsene Wenger. There is doubt about Mikael Silvestre. Robin van Persie and Left back Gael Clichy are still injured and most probably will not be available tomorrow. Arsene Wenger is delighted to see his main weapon Cese Fabregas in superb form in right time. Samir Nasri is also a good player. However, the fans will surely miss Arshevin. So, the striking position looks weak for the Gunners. Well, Arsene Wenger is surely hoping that Cese Fabregas can provide some kind of magic.

After going through the players, my feeling that Manchester United is the host favorite in the match. It will be either a draw or a win for them. I don’t see any prospect of the Gunners getting 3 points in this match. What about you?

SuBozzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14467822145100883344noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2437925455115800385.post-31043102434163524032009-04-27T06:15:00.000-07:002009-04-27T06:17:19.958-07:00Ryan Giggs - Profile
1973: Born Ryan Joseph Wilson on November 29 in Cardiff.

1990: Signs as a trainee with Manchester United in July and then as a professional at the start of December.

1991: Adopts mother's maiden name and becomes Ryan Giggs.

March - Makes United debut aged 17 as a substitute against Everton.
